No wonder the world is facing the monumental issues we are constantly bombarded with in the popular media. If anything is going to pull us out of this spiraling nose dive, it will require all of us doing things dramatically differently than we have so far.
If we keep doing what we've done, we'll keep getting what we got. Where do we start? As men, with ourselves. However we learn to access the Sacred within ourselves, I firmly believe our collective survival now depends on this.
To do this as men, we have to take a closer look at our historical and ancestral masculine belief systems and the behaviors associated with these old paradigm ways of being a man in this world. For instance, again from a historical context, the reason men today aren't so able to feel our emotions, let alone consciously be in touch and expressive of our more tender feelings is because, up until now, in order to survive on the Earth we had to kill or be killed.
Real simple. It was impossible to do what was required to survive while still being emotionally open. The shut down, walled in behavior patterns so many of us live our lives in, never really feeling and never being able to relate to others that do. This is not to excuse our behaviors, just lend perspective to our common human condition. Amongst the myriad differences between men and women, as humans, we still share many reactive emotional reaction/responses.
As men, the historical belief systems and emotional conditioning we were brought up with are all expressions of these larger energetic overlays handed down from father to son, held within the planetary societal matrix for ages upon ages. These patterns are actually embedded in our collective DNA. As kids for instance, how often are we told that real men don't cry? and to do so marks as a 'momma's boy' ... Trust me, in the neighborhood I grew up in (the South side of Chicago in the '60s) this was not a good thing to be labeled.
This of course leads us to our primary male role models, our fathers, having been so cut off and out of touch with their own emotions and feelings - how could they possibly instill anything different in their boys? It has taken the awakening feminine (ah, the Goddess returns) current upon the planet to begin changing the age-old encrusted masculine belief systems, hopefully once and for all.
To follow, I totally believe the archetypal qualities of the Awakening Sacred Feminine hold the key to a man´s conscious evolution and therefore, our collective survival. As men, through the increased awareness of our feminine natures, we will finally come to access and enliven our open and empowered Heartspace awareness. This is the new direction in men's work and final frontier for us all.
Essential to our evolution as men and for humanity in general is that we now learn to live in and through our open Hearts. Here is where compassion, forgiveness and Love live. In order for humanity to evolve and continue living on Earth, this fundamental shift in men´s consciousness is primary and necessary. In this regard, we have no choice.
Indeed - Love or Perish.
